Meet us where art is in progress
Calypso Moon Studio is the Oak Park Arts District is the working studio for artist-author Sallie Wolf and writer-storygatherer M.G. Bertulfo. The studio showcases the work-in-progress of the two self-described “messy, globe-trotting, anthropology-trained” women.
Much of Wolf's work is inspired by her deep passion for observing the Moon, with many charts, drawings, paintings and pieces of music dedicated to her “Moon Project,” a collection of art born of Wolf’s relationship with the moon.
Bertulfo finds artistic inspiration within the intersection of nature, culture and spirituality. An award-winning writer and poet, Bertulfo's work has been featured in conservation magazines, including the SierraClub magazine and Chicago Wilderness, as well as in anthologies such as "Growing Up Filipino II" and "Our Own Voice."

Sallie Wolf describes herself as an observer. The primary object of her observations is the moon, which she has closely watched and sketched since November 30, 1994. Her sketches, drawings, and paintings of the moon are based on the tradition of the Renaissance when drawing was a way to explore the world.
Exploring the world is another of Wolf’s passions. She and her husband are traveling as “quickly and thoroughly as possible” through the world - all while Wolf observes and translates what she sees into books, paintings, music, and more.
Mary Grace Bertulfo is an award-winning writer and poet whose work is featured in conservation magazines such as Sierra and Chicago Wilderness and in anthologies such as Growing Up Filipino II and Our Own Voice.
Bertulfo also founded Banyan, an Asian American Writers Collective, whose mission is to amplify Asian American voices.
Located on 331B Harrison St. in the Oak Park Arts District, the Calypso Moon Studio is an easy walk from the Jackson stop on the CTA Blue Line or a 15-minute drive west of Chicago.
