Hillside: A Green Gateway

Hillside is a vibrant suburb just 14 miles west of Chicago. Home to the grave of Chicago gangster Al Capone, people flock to the infamous crime boss’s gravestone at Mount Carmel Cemetery, where several other notable people were laid to rest, including several bishops and archbishops of the Chicago Archdiocese. Queen of Heaven Cemetery is also in Hillside and is the largest catholic mausoleum in the entire world.

There’s more to Hillside than cemeteries, however. The village hosts live concerts featuring two different musical acts every Tuesday during the summer months. Called “Summer Nights in Hillside,” the community comes together to listen to a wide variety of musical genres played by excellent bands. While you’re there, don’t forget to check out the market and food court, where you can get a little shopping in or grab some food before the concert starts!

Go bowling at the Hillside Bowl, a family-owned bowling alley in operation since 1960. Hillside Bowl has 36 lanes, four lounges, a diner, a billiard room, a pro shop and an arcade! And no trip to Hillside is complete without a visit to Emilio’s Tapas Restaurant, where you can get authentic Spanish paella and tapas..

Exploring Hillside will make you feel alive.
