Oak Park
4th of July Parade | July 4 at 10 a.m.
Find a spot along Ridgeland or Augusta Street to watch Oak Park’s annual Independence Day Parade. Local organizations that make Oak Park special, from social and special-interest groups to community organizations, will march along with street performers, pet lovers with their furry friends, and lively bands.
The parade begins at Longfellow Park, Ridgeland Avenue and Adams Street, at 10:00 a.m., turns east on Augusta Street, and eventually disperses near Whittier Elementary School, close to Harvey Avenue.
This year, the Oak Park-River Forest Chamber of Commerce is kicking off its First Friday series of summer community events right after the parade. Look for participating merchants and activities on Chicago Avenue between Lombard and Humphrey Avenues.
Brookfield
4th of July Parade & Party in the Park | July 4 at 10 a.m.
The Brookfield Fourth of July parade follows a different route this year due to construction on Grand Boulevard. The annual parade kicks off at 10:00 a.m. on the southeast corner of Garfield Avenue at Grand, heads along Grand Boulevard, then east on Washington Avenue, and continues over Salt Creek before it turns south on Arden Avenue to Kiwanis Park (8820 Brookfield Avenue).
Pack up your lawn chairs and find a spot along the new route, then join family and friends at the party in the park, where vendors will offer food and drink, and great bands will provide live entertainment beginning at 12:30 p.m. The event wraps up at 5:30 p.m., leaving plenty of time to catch fireworks in a nearby community.
Forest Park
4th of July Celebration | July 4 at 2:30 p.m.
The Park District of Forest Park has a variety of events planned for an unforgettable holiday. Get started moving with the family-friendly FIT4MOM 4th of July Family Strides 360 Workout in the park at 7329 Harrison Street.
The festive Forest Park 4th of July Celebration starts at 2:30 p.m. It continues until 9:30 p.m. with great music from HiFi Superstar and Feel Good Party Band, family fun, and a spectacular fireworks display.
La Grange
La Grange Country Club Fireworks | July 3
This members-only, family-friendly party the day before Independence Day includes bouncy houses, face painting, rock-climbing walls, live music, and an awe-inspiring fireworks finale. This event is just for club members, but you can see the fireworks display from Waiola Park or the parking lot at UChicago Medicine AdventHealth La Grange at 5101 Willow Springs Road!
North Riverside
Independence Day Parade & Fireworks | July 4 at 10 a.m.
Start your day at 10 a.m. in North Riverside with the annual parade, kicking off at 9th Avenue and 26th Street before heading east on 26th Street to Veterans Park. The fun continues from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Commons Park (2401 South Des Plaines Avenue) with family-focused activities, food vendors, and the band Hello Weekend. The concert wraps up just before the sky lights up at 9:00 p.m. You can see the fireworks display from Riverside Golf Club at the Village Commons and along nearby sidewalks.
Riverside
Parade & Community Celebration | July 4 at 9 a.m.
Riverside has a full day of activities planned! Begin at the village’s historic water tower for the 47th Annual Independence Day 5K, which starts at 7:30 a.m. Then head to Longcommon Road to watch the parade—it kicks off at 9:00 a.m. and proceeds south. Then join Guthrie Park’s community celebration, featuring music, family-friendly activities, and plenty of burgers, hot dogs, and ice cream from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Westchester
Centennial 4th of July Parade | July 4 at 9:30 a.m.
Celebrate 100 years of community, pride, and progress at Westchester’s Centennial 4th of July Parade. This special event will feature a Rolling Through the Years classic-car parade, showcasing vintage vehicles that reflect the history and character of Westchester, while the village’s GROW Ecological Commission will highlight electric cars and e-bikes as a nod to its sustainable future.
