The Best Vintage and Thrift Stores Near Oak Park

Your guide to the near west suburbs' most rewarding resale shops

For some people, shopping vintage and resale stores is a fun way to spend a rainy afternoon. For others, it's an eco-friendly means of saving money. And for others still, whether or not they discover hidden treasure is less important than the thrill of the journey.

Whichever type of shopper you are, the near west suburbs of Chicago — including Oak Park, Forest Park, La Grange, La Grange Park, Brookfield and Broadview — have boutiques and emporia you'll relish exploring. And if you're new to thrifting, vintage shopping or antiquing, the shops below are an excellent place to start.

Antiques and Collectibles Shops

Antiques are generally at least 100 years old, while vintage pieces are typically at least 20 years old. The shops in this section lean most heavily toward antiques, collectibles and dealer-curated older pieces, even when some vintage inventory is mixed in.

Heart’s Desire Antiques

1014 East 31st Street, La Grange Park, IL

What you'll find: Decorative antiques, vintage furniture, jewelry, glassware and collectibles.

Many shops that claim to sell antiques and vintage finds are stocked with recently produced, low-quality items that barely qualify as secondhand. Heart’s Desire, on East 31st Street in La Grange Park, is not one of them. These are hand-selected pieces, and experienced shoppers can feel the difference the moment they start browsing.

On any given visit, you'll find a fur-trimmed sweater from the 1950s, silver-and-turquoise necklaces from the American Southwest, or a 19th-century walnut sideboard. What consistently sets Heart's Desire apart is its depth of decorative antiques and ephemera: Victorian Christmas cards, Bohemia ruby cut-glass vases, Belle Époque wedding-cake toppers, and jadeite salt and pepper shakers. Collectors focused on a specific era or style will find the inventory remarkably consistent in quality. This is a shop with a genuine curatorial point of view. You'll never settle for chain-store home goods again.

Jackson Square Collective

800 East 31st Street, La Grange Park, IL

What you'll find: Vintage and antique furniture, home décor, artwork and collectibles from independent dealers.

Jackson Square Collective brings together antiques, vintage furniture, home décor, artwork and collectibles from independent dealers at 800 East 31st Street in La Grange Park. The marketplace combines the history of the former La Grange Park Antique Mall with the retail experience of Jackson Square Mall, whose owners acquired the property and introduced the new concept.

Following renovations, Jackson Square Collective reopened on October 17, 2026, with a grand opening celebration scheduled for November 20, 2026. Shoppers can browse a changing selection of vintage furnishings, decorative pieces, artwork and unique gifts. Visit Jackson Square Collective's website for current store hours and upcoming events.

 31st Street Antiques

9046 31st Street, Brookfield, IL

What you'll find: Antique and vintage furniture, artwork, jewelry, housewares, clothing and collectibles from multiple dealers.

A newer addition to Brookfield's shopping scene, 31st Street Antiques brings together a wide mix of vintage and antique finds under one roof. The dealer-run shop features furniture, home décor, artwork, jewelry, clothing and smaller collectibles from independent vendors, making it the kind of place where a quick browse can easily turn into a longer treasure hunt.

Inventory changes regularly as dealers restock their booths, so repeat visits can turn up something completely different. For another look inside the shop, check out 31st Street Antiques in our Stars Hollow-inspired guide to the western suburbs.

Forest Park Emporium

7215-17 Madison Avenue, Forest Park, IL

What you'll find: Antique furniture, vintage clothing, jewelry, glassware and collectibles from multiple dealers.

After 25 years in the business, Forest Park Emporium has relocated to a larger site just a few blocks from its previous Madison Street location, giving lovers of all things retro an even greater assortment to explore. The dealers who make up this collective offer just about anything you can imagine: Mid-Century Modern lamps, 1970s leather jackets, Victorian jewelry, out-of-print books, World's Fair ephemera, and antique rugs.

This indoor flea market is especially well-suited for sourcing nostalgic holiday decor or tracking down a quirky gift you're certain the recipient doesn't already own. Vendors rotate and refresh inventory regularly, so two visits a month apart can feel like entirely different stores. And on the rare chance you leave empty-handed, don't worry: new items are always arriving.

Arcadia Vintage of Forest Park

7345 Madison Street, Forest Park, IL

What you'll find: Vintage home décor, furniture, apparel, jewelry, artwork, records, toys, books and collectibles from more than 15 vendors.

A newer addition to Madison Street, Arcadia Vintage of Forest Park brings together more than 15 vendors with an eclectic mix of vintage and collectible finds. Shoppers can browse everything from retro furniture, lamps and artwork to vintage clothing, jewelry, records, trading cards, books and toys.

The constantly changing vendor inventory makes Arcadia an easy place to browse without a specific shopping list in mind. Whether you're hunting for a mid-century accent piece, an old record or something a little more unusual, the shop offers plenty of opportunities to uncover something unexpected. Arcadia is open seven days a week, so check its website before your visit for the latest store information.

Thrift Store Gems

Thrift and resale shops offer broader secondhand assortments, often at more accessible price points than highly curated vintage boutiques. The shops below carry everything from clothing and housewares to books, accessories and one-of-a-kind oddities. Several also support local organizations, making every purchase a true win-win.

Animal Care League Second Chance Shop

808 Harrison Street, Oak Park, IL

What you'll find: Secondhand clothing, jewelry, books, housewares, collectibles and pet supplies.

“Eclectic” doesn’t begin to describe the assortment at the Animal Care League Second Chance Shop. One week, the racks are crowded with a decade's worth of contents from a fashionista's closet; the next, the shelves are showcasing a Fiestaware collection from someone who decided to downsize. Colorful costume jewelry, discontinued china patterns, outgrown games and jigsaw puzzles are all fair game. The staff checks for missing pieces before putting puzzles out for sale, making every visit a genuine treasure hunt.

The Animal Care League Second Chance Shop is open for shopping Wednesday through Sunday, from 11:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Donations are accepted Thursday through Sunday during those same hours, so new items regularly make their way onto the shelves.

The proceeds support the medical care of the residents of the Animal Care League no-kill shelter. So that ceramic poodle figurine you don't need but absolutely must have? Consider it a charitable contribution. The shop also carries new and gently used pet bowls, toys, leashes, training aids, and other supplies. It's a practical stop even if you leave the vintage haul behind.

Economy Shop

103 South Grove Avenue, Oak Park, IL

What you'll find: Secondhand clothing, furniture, antiques, housewares, books, jewelry and craft supplies.

The three-story Economy Shop on South Grove Avenue opens only a few days each month and posts its schedule on its website. It closes entirely during summer months due to a lack of air-conditioning. It's worth marking your calendar for its open dates, however, because you'll often walk away with high-end finds like Dolce & Gabbana dresses, Staub skillets and Orrefors candlesticks at a fraction of retail.

There's plenty more beyond top-label goods, including wrapping paper, hardware, fabric, and items you'd rarely expect to find secondhand. The 17 rooms and halls of the Victorian home that houses the inventory fill quickly on open days, so it's not a place to browse with a stroller in tow. Experienced shoppers arrive early because the best pieces, especially small furniture and housewares, tend to go within the first hour. The proceeds benefit seven local charities, and the joy of finding that perfect handbag, painting, or bracelet is genuinely addictive.

The Economy Shop is open for shopping on select days throughout the year, typically from September through early June. Be sure to check its shopping calendar before planning your visit.

Kinfolk Marketplace

2100 Roosevelt Road, Broadview, IL

What you'll find: Consignment and secondhand clothing, accessories, handmade goods and home décor from independent vendors.

A collective consignment shop with independent vendors, Kinfolk Marketplace in Broadview is a smorgasbord of gently used clothing, accessories and other secondhand finds. Clothing and accessories are the stars, with options for adults and kids alike. Looking for an affordable formal dress that would never read as secondhand? A substantial fur coat you'd never consider buying new? An ornately patterned carpet bag that doubles as a laptop carrier? Brand-name shoes your kids will actually want to wear to school? There's a very good chance you'll find it here.

Individual vendors rotate stock and run their own promotions, with discounts of up to 50%, so it pays to check Kinfolk's website or Instagram before you go. Kinfolk Marketplace also hosts community events, vendor showcases and recurring Fill-a-Bag Sales, where shoppers pay $25 to $30 for a bag and fill it with items from a designated sale section. Check Kinfolk's event calendar for confirmed dates and upcoming promotions.

Kinfolk Marketplace is open Tuesday and Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from noon to 5 p.m. The shop is closed on Mondays. Check its current hours before planning your visit.

Vintage Shops and Boutiques

Vintage shops take a more curated approach to older and secondhand goods, typically emphasizing style, design or a particular point of view. Some also mix vintage pieces with antiques or new merchandise, but the shopping experience is intentionally edited rather than traditional thrift.

Studio 8

7501 Madison Street, Forest Park, IL

What you'll find: Refurbished vintage furniture, estate jewelry, artwork, pottery and retro home décor.

Studio 8 bills itself as "vintage made modern," and the inventory delivers on that promise. Expect to find upcycled furniture and estate jewelry alongside art, pottery, and collectibles that feel deliberately curated rather than simply accumulated. Owner Melody Kratz and her partners have a clear eye for pieces with strong bones and personality, whether that's a freshly refinished dresser, a mid-century lamp, or a one-of-a-kind ring sourced from an estate sale.

You might move past a display of sleek, refinished side tables and stop short at a case of heirloom-quality jewels, or spot a piece of retro décor that feels like the exact missing element your living room has been waiting for. Because Studio 8 buys directly from locals in Forest Park and Oak Park, the inventory shifts frequently and tends to reflect the character of both communities — familiar and eclectic in equal measure. It's the kind of shop where every piece has a story, and the staff can usually tell it.

Swell House

46 South La Grange Road, La Grange, IL

What you'll find: Curated vintage and antique home décor, artwork, lighting, textiles, furniture and modern goods from small-batch and woman-owned brands.

Swell House in downtown La Grange blends vintage and antique finds with newer home goods chosen to work together in a layered, collected space. The storefront opened in 2026 after beginning as Swell Vintage, and its changing assortment can include artwork, lighting, textiles, furniture, tabletop pieces and one-of-a-kind decorative finds.

Because Swell House mixes older pieces with modern goods from small-batch and woman-owned brands, it is best thought of as a curated vintage and home destination rather than a traditional thrift shop. Visit the shop’s website for current inventory and seasonal hours.

G&G Home

327 Harrison Street, Oak Park, IL

What you'll find: Curated vintage home décor, glassware, coffee table books, candles and home fragrance.

G&G Home in Oak Park's Arts District blends a curated assortment of vintage treasures with its signature home-fragrance line and contemporary décor. Shoppers can find coffee table books, coupe glasses, decorative pieces and other accents alongside candles, reed diffusers and room sprays.

The mix of vintage and new is intentional, giving G&G Home a styled boutique feel rather than a traditional thrift-store experience. Visit the shop’s website for current hours and collections.

Grateful Threads Resale Emporium

6900 Roosevelt Road, Oak Park, IL

What you'll find: Vintage clothing, accessories, jewelry, home décor and other resale items.

While Grateful Threads carries pre-owned home decor, tableware, and collectibles, the wide-ranging apparel assortment is what makes it a standout on the Roosevelt Road corridor. You'll come across lace-adorned Victorian wedding gowns, lace-up thigh-high snakeskin boots, drop-waist beaded dresses any flapper would have envied, and 1950s Hawaiian shirts often in the same visit. If you need a unique prom gown or simply want to channel your inner bohemian, this Oak Park shop is a must.

The ever-changing assortment of handbags, hats, and jewelry is equally dazzling, encompassing everything from chain-mail pouches to raffia cloches to boldly colored acrylic bangles. The staff here are frequently mentioned by visitors as being as much of a draw as the merchandise itself — approachable, knowledgeable, and genuinely enthusiastic about helping you find something special. Proceeds help support feline rescue.
