At twist on your typical bookstore, New Book Joy curates books and reading pairings, unique gift bundles, book clubs and bookish events for all ages. Often referred to as a "booktique" this shop began from an idea of a Book Club Tasting Experiences for grown-ups that included themed Book Boxes (filled with the featured titles and small business goodies curated to compliment the flavors of the story), thoughtful book discussions (with curated discussion questions that inspired the groups actually talk about the book), and paired reading adventures at local small businesses (starting with drink and food tastings including wine, whiskey, and cheese, then branching out to cooking classes, art classes, and more) all inspired by the books they were reading!

Brookfield store owner, Mandy Genge, is a High school English teacher (25+ years) with an MA in teaching + focus in literacy, teaching everything from advanced placement to classes that had reluctant, struggling readers

Favorite Book: She would love to share her favorite book, but that is impossible! She usually reads or listens to 4 or 5 books at a time and enjoys each one for different reasons. She is addicted to reading and adores playing the book matchmaking game with people who are looking for their next entertaining read!
Besides teaching and learning from her students (and reading, of course), she truly enjoys embarking on Chicagoland adventures. She believes, there is so much to do and try and there is never enough time, she also loves listening to music, watching movies, traveling, or enjoying a new adventure with family and friends.
The candy shop is located at 3741 Prairie Ave. in Brookfield. New Book Joy is just 15 miles from downtown Chicago and a two-minute walk from the Brookfield Stop on the BNSF Railway.
